I have a small (5cmx4cmx4cm give or take) camera that is designed for use in a Surveillance system. It?s black and white, has a wide angle lens and the quality is amazing considering what I paid for it and its size. Naturally my first instinct is to mount the thing on the bottom of my trusty skateboard. I have the mechanics all worked out, the mounting is not going to present a problem (I just took a GCSE in Engineering). However, the camera does not include a recording device, I can connect it to the TV via a separate box which ends in a scart lead, and record the signal as if it was coming off the arial using my humble vcr, but mounting a vcr on my skateboard would be stupid to say the least. The camera has a 6 pin video out socket, is there a separate recording unit I can attach it to that is more portable?

Any suggestions welcome.

That's an interesting one. The only thing I can think of is getting hold of one of those new Sony DV cameras that can record from a line signal not just through the lens i.e. SVHS or RCA lead. Or attach a signal booster to the skate board and use a really long cable. I guess it depends on where your filming.

I remember seeing some kiddy cam at a store for $50. It transferred to a VCR via IR. I'd amagine that with the right adaprots you could hook up the security cam to an IR transmitter and put the VCR (that is IR enabled) within line of sight of the transmitter.
OR You could spring for a completely wireless, non IR reansmitter of some sort and do the same thing but keep the VCR out of danger.
This is all off the top of my head but I'll bet that it just may work. (and when it does, you'll have a kickass new technique).
